Paul Merson has claimed that Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford will extend his goalscoring streak against Crystal Palace

Arsenal legend Paul Merson has predicted that Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford will continue his scoring streak in the Red Devils' upcoming Premier League clash against Crystal Palace on Saturday, September 21. The 56-year-old claimed that Rashford either 'scores goals' or is 'absolutely terrible', choosing the former option as his prediction for the game against the Eagles.

The 26-year-old graduated from the Manchester United academy in 2016 and has spent his entire senior career till date at Old Trafford. He has racked up 134 goals and 70 assists in 408 games across all competitions.

Rashford endured a difficult 2023-24 campaign, looking uninspired and out of sorts. He bagged just eight goals and six assists in 43 games, a far cry from his 30-goal, 11-assist campaign (56 appearances) in 2022-23.

His 2024-25 campaign has been topsy-turvy so far. Having failed to find the back of the net in the first three Premier League games, his form has improved of late.

He scored in United's 3-0 win over Southampton in the league (September 14), and grabbed a brace and an assist in their 7-0 thumping of Barnsley in the FA Cup (September 17).

Predicting that he would keep his scoring run going, Merson, in his column on Sportskeeda, wrote:

"I hope Marcus Rashford is back to his best now. He played well against Barnsley. Rashford will either score goals or he will be absolutely terrible, there's no in-between for him. I have a feeling he'll score against Palace."

With Rasmus Hojlund likely to return from injury soon, the game against Palace gives Rashford the perfect opportunity to further consolidate his place in the Red Devils' starting lineup.

"This will be an entertaining game" - Paul Merson predicts result of Manchester United's EPL clash vs Crystal Palace

Arsenal icon Paul Merson has predicted that Manchester United and Crystal Palace will play out a high-scoring draw in their upcoming fixture in the Premier League.

In his column on Sportskeeda, the ex-English forward wrote that the game will end 2-2, but asserted that a win would be a 'great result' for Erik ten Hag's side. He wrote:

"I think this will be an entertaining game. There will definitely be goals in this one. If Manchester United win, they can pat themselves on the back because that would be a great result. I’m going for a high-scoring draw though. Manchester United will definitely have a go at the Eagles and it will be a very open game."

United currently sit 10th in the league table, with two wins and two losses in four games. They are set to take on Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park in a crucial Premier League fixture on September 21.
