Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher has heaped praise on Ryan Gravenberch's performances this season. He labeled the midfielder 'world-class' and claimed he's been the club's best player this season.
The Reds put in another brilliant performance in the Premier League as they beat Bournemouth 3-0 at Anfield on Saturday, September 21. Gravenberch was again excellent for Arne Slot's side, playing the entire 90 minutes. He completed 74/84 passes, made one key pass, won 7/11 duels, and made two clearances and one interception.
Meanwhile, Kelleher made his appearance of the season for Liverpool due to an injury to Alisson Becker. The Irish goalkeeper heaped praise on Gravenberch, saying after the game (via Rousing the Kop):
“He’s been amazing this season to be fair, he’s been world-class. I’ve been really impressed and obviously all the Man of the Match awards he’s deserved them all because he’s been the best player.”
Gravenberch has been impressive this season under Arne Slot. He's played every minute of every game, helping them win five of their six games across competitions so far.
Overall, he's made 44 appearances for Liverpool, scoring four goals and providing two assists since arriving from Bayern Munich last summer.
Arne Slot's assesses Liverpool's win over Bournemouth as they bounce back after Nottingham defeat
The Reds shockingly lost 1-0 against Nottingham Forest at Anfield in their last Premier League clash last weekend. They then beat AC Milan 3-1 at San Siro in the UEFA Champions League in midweek. On their return to the Premier League, they put in a solid display against Bournemouth on Saturday.
Luis Diaz (26', 28') and Darwin Nunez (37') scored to help Liverpool to a 3-0 win. They had 59% possession and had 19 attempts on goal with 13 being on target. Bournemouth, meanwhile, also made 19 attempts with six being on target but were unable to convert them.
Arne Slot assessed his side's performance after the game, saying (via Liverpoolfc.com):
"There were 12 minutes where we scored three goals but I think during the whole first half we saw many of those moments. Unfortunately for us, the first, second and third didn't go in. The good thing for us was their first chance didn't go in as well.
"Then there were these 12 minutes of one attack after another that led to three goals, which was really pleasing to see at that moment – and which we also needed because we played against a tough opponent. An opponent which showed today that even when they were 3-0 down they just kept on going, kept on going and kept on going. It was tougher than the result might look like."
Liverpool will next host West Ham United in the EFL Cup third round on Wednesday, September 25. They will then face Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Molineux Stadium in the league three days later.
