YouTuber Mark Goldbridge has made a bold statement on Manchester United skipper Bruno Fernandes, claiming that he is so far the flop of the season. In a podcast named That's Football, Goldbridge has slammed the Portuguese international for his performances at the club this season.

He said:

"I'm very biased here. I would say someone like Bruno Fernandes has been flop of the season so far. He got a new contract at United from the new ownership. Didn't need one. Reportedly it is massive. He is not delivering in a position where Cole Palmer is delivering or Martin Odegaard would deliver."

Mark Goldbridge is, in fact, a Manchester United fan who has been following the club for a long time. The club's recent poor outings in the Premier League and the UEFA Europa League have led to such an outburst from the YouTuber. He further said:

"Bruno is capable. This comes from a United fan who has been actually frustrated with Bruno Fernandes for quite a while. He was capable but he is not delivering. So I would have to say he would have to be considered a player you would really expect to be delivering."

Bruno Fernandes has registered 11 appearances this season for Manchester United across the Premier League, UEFA Europa League, Carabao Cup, and the Community Shield. He has notched up only four assists and not a single goal.

If a comparison is drawn to the previous season, Fernandes salvaged 15 goals and 13 assists from 48 appearances across all competitions. A certain downfall it might be, but Fernandes has been the most consistent player in recent times for the Old Trafford-based outfit.

Bruno Fernandes was a leading scorer last season for Manchester United

Manchester United are in dire straits. It's not an exaggeration but a statistically backed up term. They currently sit 14th in the Premier League and have scored only five goals. This, in fact, is the second-lowest in the domestic league so far.

Crystal Palace have scored a similar number of goals. Only Southampton have fewer goals - four. A lack in goal-scoring form has been evident from the team's outings. Last season, Rasmus Hojlund and Bruno Fernandes led the scoring duties.

However, this season, Hojlund is yet to net in the Premier League, having scored his solitary goal in the continental competition. Fernandes, too, is struggling to carve out some goals when his side needs them the most.
