Liverpool youngster Jarell Quansah has showered praise on club captain Virgil van Dijk. Speaking on stage during the Reds' pre-season US tour, Quansah claimed that Van Dijk is the best in the world in his position.

The 21-year-old Reds' academy product further highlighted how playing alongside the Dutchman is beneficial for an up-and-coming player like him. He said (via Tribal Football):

"He's the best centre-back in the world. Having a role model like that who I've always looked up to is massive for me. Virgil is Rolls-Royce- he's everything I want to be as a centre-back. I can take so much from him. I've learned so much, not just from Virg but from the entire back line."

Quansah's words come ahead of the pre-season friendly game against Arsenal on July 31. Quansah's take on Van Dijk's influence can't be downplayed. Since his January 2018 move from Southampton, the towering defender has been one of the best players for Liverpool.

He has so far made 270 appearances for the club, helping the Merseysiders win major trophies like the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League. The Dutch captain's name is omnipresent in the conversation of the best defenders in the world.

Liverpool planning to add closed-door friendly to their pre-season schedule

As per Mirror, Liverpool are looking to add another pre-season friendly against UD Las Palmas to their schedule. The date is expected to be on August 10, the day before the Reds play Sevilla at Anfield.

A deal, though, has not yet been signed for the game. A friendly, if it happens, will take place behind closed doors. The report claims Arne Slot will split his squad for that match and then for the match against Sevilla.

The Reds are due to play Arsenal on July 31 and Manchester United on August 3. They have already won 1-0 against Real Betis on July 26. Slot is seemingly leaving no stones unturned to prepare his team for the post-Jurgen Klopp era.
