Chelsea defender Levi Colwill has heaped praise on manager Enzo Maresca and also credited the Italian for his improved form. He thanked the manager for putting his trust in the players and pushing them to do better.

Speaking to Chelsea's official website, Colwill opened up on the impact Maresca has had on the squad. He also talked about the manager's approach behind the scenes. He said:

"I’m really happy with my form so far this season and I put a lot of that down to the gaffer. He’s given me a lot of confidence and he’s put a lot of trust in me to play my football.
"He wants me to start attacks from the back and having that trust makes me feel a big part of how we want to play. I want to thank him for giving the opportunities to play and for allowing me to play my football in the way I feel I’m good at. He’s always pushing me and I’m really enjoy working under him."
"It was a really good result [against Brighton] and a really strong team performance. I think last season, this game would have been a lot different. I wouldn’t say we were completely at our best, we know we can still improve, but we got a big three points and hopefully we can maintain this momentum and keep building in the right direction under the gaffer.
"At times it really clicked for us and when we do play our best football, we look very dangerous. We’ve also got that extra spark in us to win games through sheer talent, which showed with how Cole performed," he added.

Levi Colwill is partnering Wesley Fofana this season in the heart of the defense for Chelsea.

Chelsea off to a decent start in the Premier League

Enzo Maresca' Chelsea suffered a 2-0 loss to Manchester City in their first Premier League match this season. The Blues have since been unbeaten in the league, having won four matches and drawn once.

Maresca's side also qualified for the UEFA Conference League after beating Servette in the qualifiers. They lost 2-1 in the second leg, but courtesy of a 2-0 win the first leg, they went through with a 3-2 aggregate score.

The Blues also defeated Barrow 5-0 in the Carabao Cup third round to advance to the next stage.
