Former Chelsea striker Tony Cascarino has advised Premier League side Liverpool to sign Cameroonian winger Bryan Mbeumo as Mohamed Salah's replacement. The Blues icon believes that the Brentford star would be ideal for the Reds for his ability to raise the level of his teammates.

At this juncture, it is looking increasingly likely that Salah will soon bid farewell to Anfield. The Egyptian icon has less than a year left on his current contract with the Reds, with no signs of a potential extension on the horizon.

Rumors linking Salah with a switch to Saudi Arabia continues to get thicker and Liverpool might soon need to make a decision about his replacement.

In the light of it, Tony Cascarino has urged the Merseysiders to look no further than Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo.

“If Mohamed Salah is in his last year or two at Liverpool, I think Mbeumo should at the top of their list of potential replacements,” Cascarino told The Times. “There is so much to like about his game, but one of the things that stands out for me is the fact that he makes the players around him play well."
“If you think back to the ‘BMW’ attacking trio that helped Brentford to promotion, the other two – Ollie Watkins and Said Benrahma – both got moves to bigger clubs, but Mbeumo has managed to be just as effective with the people who replaced them, whether that’s been [Ivan] Toney, or Yoane Wissa, or whoever," the former Blues star added.

It is worth noting that Liverpool have been linked with Bryan Mbeumo for quite some time now. According to L'Equipe (via Rousing The KOP), the Reds targeted the attacker in the summer transfer window but nothing materialized.

Mbeumo attracted offers from multiple clubs following a brilliant outing last season where he bagged nine goals and six assists in 25 league games. He has began this season on an even better note, netting five goals in six league matches.

Despite the rumors surrounding his future at Anfield, Mohamed Salah isn't letting anything come as a distraction to him this season. The Egyptian has been one of the top performers in Liverpool's squad, putting in strong performances week-in and week-out.

So far, he's bagged five goals and four assists for the Merseysiders in eight appearances across all competitions so far. That includes four goals and as many assists in the Premier League as well as one strike in EFL Cup.

Bryan Mbeumo, on the other hand, has a record of five goals to his name for Brentford in seven games across all tournaments. All the five goals have come in the Premier League where he's played six games so far this season.
