football pundit Rio Ferdinand has revealed how his former Manchester United teammate Owen Hargreaves once came out naked in front of Canadian rapper Drake. The incident happened after a Manchester United training session, with Hargreaves claiming that he was not aware the singer was in the dressing room and was caught off guard.

On the latest episode of UEFA's Legends Lounge, Ferdinand narrated how Drake's team had contacted him about visiting the Manchester United training facility. Revealing how the incident unfolded, he said:

"He was doing a concert, and his management reached out to me and said he'd like to visit training. So I said cool. He comes in, walks around the training ground and got all the Manchester United hat and scarf on."
"It was only a few of us there and Owen was in the shower and I said, 'come out, I want you to meet somebody'. He came out all wet, dripping hair all over and Drake was standing there and my guy was standing there with the fruit and veg out. We don't wear towels, we just let them dry with a walk in the dressing room," Ferdinand added.

Hargreaves quickly jumped in and revealed that he was wearing only his sliders and his towel was in his hand. He said:

"I come out and Rio's there and in the corner I see the guy and I think 'is that Drake?' He's there with like his 10 homies and all I've got is sliders on and my towel over my arm."

Ferdinand and Hargreaves spent four years at Manchester United between 2007 and 2011 before the latter left for Man City. In all, the duo played 61 matches together for United and England.

Drake, Manchester United, and his curse

Canadian rapper Drake has been spotted wearing jerseys of several football clubs, not just Manchester United. The singer is infamous among some football fans who believe he brings bad luck to their side (via 90min).

'The Drake Curse' became a meme after he took a photo with Jadon Sancho and the then-Borussia Dortmund star lost his next match 5-0 to Bayern Munich. The singer then posed for a photo with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, following which Arsenal lost 1-0 to Everton in their next match.

The curse talks became stronger after Sergio Aguero posted a photo with Drake and ended up losing 1-0 to Tottenham Hotspur in a UEFA Champions League clash.

Manchester United's Spanish account on Twitter (now known as X) once also tried to jinx Barcelona by posting a photo of Drake in the Catalan side's jersey ahead of their Champions League showdown in 2019 (via OneFootball).
