Arsenal fans have criticized Gabriel Jesus on X after he failed to make an impact in their 2-1 defeat to Liverpool. The two Premier League giants locked horns in a pre-season friendly at the Lincoln Financial Field on Wednesday, July 31.

Mikel Arteta named a strong starting XI compared to the Reds, including Jesus, Martin Odegaard, Gabriel Martinelli, and Gabriel Magalhaes. However, Liverpool got off to a better start, taking the lead in the 13th minute through Mohamed Salah.

Arne Slot's men doubled their lead in the 34th minute via Fabio Carvalho's brilliant finish. Arsenal did well to respond six minutes later with Kai Havertz scoring to half the deficit. The Gunners pushed for an equalizer in the second half but were unable to penetrate the Reds' defense.

Gabriel Jesus was entrusted to lead in the line against the Reds. Unfortunately, the Brazilian struggled to be a threat amid Arsenal being linked with signing a new forward this summer. The Brazilian was given a match rating of 5.7 by FotMob, creating zero chances, and landing none of his three shots on target. He was also dispossessed thrice and lost seven duels.

One Arsenal fan reacted by posting:

"It was a good run, but Gabriel Jesus is actually washed, so sad"

Another fan typed:

"Can't finish chances, dribbles too unnecessarily killing moves or ending up losing the ball. Useless player. Need a proper striker. Him and Zinchenko may leave now. The team is past them now"

Other reactions can be viewed below:

"Those two attacks show the difference between Salah & Martinelli. Don’t waste time getting off a shot and over-dribble. Gabriel Jesus is the same too, over-dribbles too much," one fan pointed out
"Pls sell Jesus, Pls sell Zinny or never play him LB, Pls sell Fabio Veira, Pls sell Nelson, Pls sell Nketiah, Buy a prolific striker pls we can't go another season trophyless, 5 years of rebuild we should be winning a major trophy now in order not to lose our best players," another fan added
"Can we find a buyer for Jesus, Zinchenko, Reiss and Eddie asap so we can make more purchases. I'd even keep Eddie over Jesus unless Jesus is ok being a substitute winger," one fan tweeted
"We need to sell jesus immediately Nelson martinelli nketiah," another chimed in
"Washed up striker.. Lot of indecision making," one fan claimed
"Watching this game I strongly believe we should sell G.Jesus and get a better upgrade," another added
