Real Madrid boss impressed with performance in Atletico Madrid draw

Real Madrid boss Carlos Ancelotti was impressed with his side's performance in the 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid. Eder Militao opened the scoring for Los Blancos in the 64th minute with a powerful strike past Jan Oblak. The hosts left it late but bagged the equalizer in the nick of time through Angel Correa (90+5').

Speaking about his side's performance after the match, Ancelotti told the press (via Managing Madrid):

“It was a much more controlled game by both teams. We had a plan, and there were others. We wanted to defend better than last year, which we did. We defended well, and we should have been a little better on the ball. We’ve played a lot, the rhythm can’t always be all out one very game.”

Real Madrid have played Atletico Madrid 231 times in their history and emerged victorious on 116 occasions, drawn 56 and lost 59. Los Blancos are second in La Liga with 18 points while Atletico are third with 16 points.
