Will Rodri win the Ballon d’Or this year?

Rodri has stated that it would be "a dream" to win the Ballon d'Or this year. The Manchester City midfielder believes he has done all he can to win the prestigious individual award.

Speaking to the media, Rodri stated that he has worked hard for the club and country in the last few years. The Spaniard stated that he's incredibly happy about the success he has achieved with his club and national teams in the last few years. He won the Premier League title with Manchester City last season and the European Championships with La Roja this summer.

Rodri said (via the BBC):

"I'm very, very happy for everything that happened to me in the last years. Winning what Manchester City won and winning the Euros with my country is just a dream. It's a consequence of the hard work, consistency and never giving up. I really feel right now that people are recognising my work and trying to push me to win the Ballon d’Or. It's not something I think about, to be honest.."

He added:

"It would be a dream, of course, because I never thought I could arrive at this stage, this moment. I know I play a different role to most players nominated for the Ballon d’Or, but it also shows that football can be beautiful in different views. You can be beautiful as a midfielder, or scoring goals, or being a defender."

Rodri is one of the favorites for the France Football award this year. Real Madrid star Vinicius Jr, Jude Bellingham and Dani Carvajal are the others in the running for the Ballon d'Or.

Ballon d'Or nominee Rodri not looking to make Real Madrid move

Ballon d'Or nominee Rodri has been linked with a move to Real Madrid but has rebuffed the claims. He stated that he has three years left on his contract at Manchester City and is not thinking about leaving them any time soon.

Rodri told the media (via Yahoo sports):

“Nothing much to say. I have, with this (contract), three more years at (Manchester) City, and when I sign the contracts I don’t think of other teams, I just think on finishing.”

Reports in Spain have suggested that Real Madrid are interested in bolstering their squad next summer with a move for Rodri. The Spaniard has played a key role for club and country, making him one of the favorites for the Ballon d'Or this year.
