According to an Instagram post by 433, football governing body FIFA is set to introduce a new 10-day transfer window in June for clubs participating in the rebranded FIFA Club World Cup.

The new format will see the international club competition be played by 32 teams across the various confederations. Also, it will now be played every four years instead of annually, and in the summer rather than December.

There were concerns about the impact of transfers on the tournament as the summer transfer window would be open during that period. Thus, players from the participating clubs may be signed by another club in the competition.

Also, players whose contracts expire on June 30 will not be able to play fully in the competition (which runs from June 15 to July 13) as they will become free agents halfway through the tournament.

In order to address these potential issues, FIFA has reportedly agreed to permit participating teams to sign new players from June 1 to June 10. This interim transfer window will enable players to sign early as free agents for another participating team in the rebranded Club World Cup.

Players whose contracts are set to expire by June 30 will be allowed to represent a new team for two weeks from mid-June before their formal contract expires. Additionally, players who aren't able to move to a new club will be allowed to sign a two-week contract extension that will make them eligible to play until the end of the tournament.

FIFA has banned players from representing multiple clubs should they be transferred between participating clubs during the tournament scheduled to be staged in the United States of America.

Lionel Messi's Inter Miami set to qulaify for the FIFA Club World Cup after wining Supporters' Shield

Lionel Messi could make yet another appearance at the FIFA Club World Cup after it was reported that Inter Miami could be named the USA's representative for the tournament following their MLS regular-season triumph.

The Herons defeated Columbus Crew 3-2 on Wednesday, October 2, confirming their status as the best team in the regular season and winning the Supporters' Shield.

The re-branded Club World Cup has a spot reserved for a club from the host nation, and Inter Miami could be handed the ticket to feature in the tournament by virtue of winning the Supporters' Shield, as reported by journalist Ben Jacobs.

Messi played in three Club World Cup editions (2009, 2011, 2015) during his stint at Barcelona, winning the trophy on all occasions.
