Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has shed light on Arsenal defender Jakub Kiwior's future at the Emirates. The Pole was left out of the Gunners' squad that beat Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-0 at home in their Premier League opener on Saturday (August 17).

Coming to the game, Bukato Saka set up Kai Havertz to open the scoring midway through the first half. After the break, Havertz returned the compliment, setting up the Englishman, who produced a brilliant winner to confirm all three points for Mikel Arteta's side.

Kiwior, 24, though, wasn't part of the matchday squad. Since arriving in January 2023, he played 20 times in the Premier League last season as the Gunners finished second, behind Manchester City, for the second straight season.

Romano has said that the Pole wasn't left out due to injury, as he's set to leave the Emirates before the transfer window closes at the end of the month. He tweeted (as per London World):

"Jakub Kiwior, out of Arsenal squad for technical decision. No injury. He could still leave before the end of the transfer window but nothing close yet with any club, I’m told. Open situation."

As per Meczyki (via London World), there's interest in Kiwior from Serie A and from a few other leagues. The Pole is likely to leave on loan with an option to buy, which means he has likely played his last for the Gunners.

Arsenal striker Gabriel Martinelli is happy to see his team open their quest for a first Premier League title in 21 years with an eventually comfortable win at home to Wolves.

Admitting that the team 'wanted' the win and got it, the Brazilian also waxed lyrical about the game's two goalscorers Saka and Havertz, telling BBC Radio 5 Live about their quality

"It is what we wanted and we got the win, and we are really happy with that."

About Saka and Havertz, he said:

"We know his quality and Kai's quality as well. They are really important for us, and we trust them, and we know they can decided games in a moment."

Martinelli also offered his views about another title race with City, admitting that it would be an onerous challenge, having finished behind the Cityzens in the last two seasons. The Gunners next take on Aston Villa away on August 24.
