Liverpool defender Jarell Quansah has detailed the difference between Reds head coach Arne Slot's tactical setup and legendary manager Jurgen Klopp's coaching methods.

Earlier this May, the Merseyside outfit decided to name Slot as their new boss following Klopp's decision to step down after a nine-year-long stint. They have opened the 2024-25 season on a fine note, scoring seven goals and conceding none in three league matches so far.

During a recent interview with The Times, Quansah was asked to opine on his experience of playing for Liverpool under both Slot and Klopp. The 21-year-old responded (h/t Tribal Football):

"As you can probably see, we play with much more possession now. Last year, we played with a lot of intensity and chaos, I think we called it 'organised chaos'. This year, the approach is more rigid. We build from the bottom up and everyone knows what they have to do."

Last campaign, Quansah cemented himself as a crucial squad member playing in Klopp's high-octane gegenpressing system. He helped Liverpool register nine clean sheets in 33 appearances across competitions, scoring three goals and providing three assists as well.

So far this season, Quansah has made one appearance under Slot. He started the Reds' 2-0 Premier League opening weekend win against Ipswich Town at Portman Road before being replaced at the break.

Liverpool star suggests he is more at home under Arne Slot than ex-boss Jurgen Klopp

Speaking to ESPN Netherlands, Liverpool midfielder Ryan Gravenberch claimed that he is enjoying life under new Reds head coach Arne Slot. He elaborated (h/t ESPN):

"I just feel good in my skin, to be honest. But does that have a reason? Yeah, things are going well at the club. I'm just doing my thing, and it's working out well now. [Slot] gives me confidence now. He just lets me start in the lineup. It's going pretty well."

Gravenberch, who is being used as a number six this season, added:

"As a player, you obviously want to get minutes. For me, that confidence is part of it. With that confidence, I feel more comfortable, and with the minutes, it keeps getting better. [Slot's] a good coach. He knows what he wants. He has a clear plan. Yeah, so far, we're executing it really well. Clarity from the start is always nice for me."

After arriving from Bayern Munich for £34 million in 2023, Gravenberch started 21 of his 38 overall appearances for Liverpool last campaign.

The 22-year-old has started all three of his appearances this season.
