Chelsea are preparing to add more quality to their squad this summer. The Blues are looking to return to glory under Enzo Maresca, who took over from Mauricio Pochettino last month.

Meanwhile, the London giants have set their sights on a Wolverhampton Wanderer forward. Elsewhere, the club have offered £45m for the services of an Atletico Madrid striker.

On that note, let's look at the major Chelsea transfer stories from July 12, 2024.

Chelsea eyeing Pedro Neto

Chelsea have entered the race to sign Pedro Neto this summer, according to HITC. The Blues are looking to add more firepower to their attack after a poor showing in the 2023/24 campaign.

New manager Enzo Maresca is apparently a fan of Neto, who has earned rave reviews with his efforts for Wolverhampton Wanderers. The Portuguese registered three goals and 11 assists from 24 games across competitions in the 2023/24 campaign.

The 24-year-old could be an upgrade on the likes of Mykhailo Mudryk and Noni Madueke at Stamford Bridge. Wolves have already lost Max Kilman to West Ham United this summer and it was previously believed that they would be reluctant to offload Neto.

However, they are willing to let the Portuguese go for an offer of £60m. Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United are also in the race for the 24-year-old.

Blues offer £45m for Samu Omorodion

Chelsea have submitted multiple offers for Samu Omorodion, according to transfer insider Ben Jacobs. The 20-year-old spent the last season on loan at Alaves from Atletico Madrid, scoring nine goals from 36 games.

The Blues are convinced by his efforts and have apparently offered £45m in their recent proposal to prise him away. Enzo Maresca is eager to add a new No. 9 to his ranks this summer, with Romelu Lukaku no longer part of the plans.

The Belgian striker spent the 2023/24 campaign on loan at AS Roma and is seeking a permanent exit from Stamford Bridge this summer. With Nicolas Jackson failing to impress in his debut campaign, the London giants have turned their attention to Omorodion.

However, Los Rojiblancos have high hopes for their star player and want him to be part of Diego Simeone's setup next season. The 20-year-old is also eager to prove himself to the Argentinian manager, so a move to Stamford Bridge looks unlikely.

Marc Cucurella settled at Stamford Bridge

Marc Cucurella is not planning to leave Chelsea this summer, according to his agent Aleix Pique. The Spanish left-back was close to joining Manchester United last summer on loan, before the move broke down in the eleventh hour.

Cucurella ended up staying at Stamford Bridge and eventually wrestled his way back into Mauricio Pochettino's plans. The 25-year-old finished the campaign with one goal and two assists from 26 appearances.

He has taken his game to a higher level with La Roja at Euro 2024, starting five of the six games. Cucurella's performances have sparked talks of a move this summer, with the Red Devils apparently keen on taking him to Old Trafford.

However, speaking to La Ser as cited by acclaimed journalist Fabrizio Romano, Pique rubbished talks of an exit from the Blues.

“Cucurella is very comfortable and happy at Chelsea and in London. His idea is to stay at the club. Under normal circumstances, he will continue there,” said Pique.

Cucurella is under contract with the London giants until 2028.
