Chelsea defender Ben Chilwell, who was recently linked with a move to Manchester United, is currently weighing his options amid his uncertain future. According to a report from talkSPORT, the left-back has become frustrated by his situation at Stamford Bridge and could seek a move away.

This summer transfer window could see Ben Chilwell make an important decision about his future. The 27-year-old has become surplus to requirements at Chelsea, with new Blues manager Enzo Maresca recently admitting that the player does not fit into his style of play.

This vividly played out during the pre-season where he got limited opportunities to play. With the new Premier League season almost upon us, the England international has grown frustrated with the situation.

As claimed by talkSPORT, Chilwell is currently assessing his options. He is expected to make a decision about his future before the transfer window shuts this summer.

The report adds that the Blues are unlikely to stand in the defender's way if they receive a good offer for him between now and the end of August. It is worth noting that the transfer will close on August 30.

Manchester United have been previously linked with a move for the 27-year-old. However, after spending over €100 on Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee and promoting fast-rising left-back Harry Amass to the senior team, it is unclear whether they will return for the Chelsea star.

Chilwell wasn't at the top of his game last season. Thanks to a series of injuries, he could only play 21 games for the Blues across all competitions, contributing one assist. So far, he's made 106 appearances for the Blues on all fronts since joining the club in 2020, recording nine goals and 12 assists to his name.

What is next for Chelsea and Manchester United?

After losing the Community Shield to local rivals Manchester City via a penalty shootout on Saturday (August 10), Manchester United will now switch attention to the Premier League. They will take on Fulham in their opening fixture this Friday (August 16).

Chelsea on the other hand, will go head-to-head with Manchester City in their league opener on Sunday (August 18). They will then go on to face the likes of Wolverhampton Wanderers, Crystal Palace and Bournemouth in their next three games.

Meanwhile, Manchester United will clash with Brighton & Hove Albion, Liverpool and Southampton in their next three games following the curtain-raiser versus Fulham.
