Chelsea will be back in action after the October international break against Liverpool on Sunday, October 20. Enzo Maresca's side will travel to Anfield in what proposes to be a top fixture between two new managers at their respective clubs. However, amidst this, there is some bad news for the Blues' faithfuls as they will be without four players for this clash.

As per a report from Liverpool Echo, Spanish left-back Marc Cucurella, French centre-back Wesley Fofana will be out of this clash. Both the defenders received a yellow card in their previous outing against Nottingham Forest. This was their fifth yellow card as a result of which they won't be featuring in this game.

Moreover, midfielder Omari Kellyman, who joined Chelsea from Aston Villa in the summer, suffered a hamstring injury last month. He will have to wait before he gets his first start or minutes in Chelsea colors.

English midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka is also doubtful for the Liverpool clash. He missed the previous two fixtures due to illness and there hasn't been any update on his condition so far.

But it's not only negative news for Chelsea fans. Some positives are still there. Noni Madueke and Levi Colwill, who were taken off in the second half against Nottingham Forest, featured in England's Nations League fixture against Greece on Thursday, October 10.

Moroever, skipper Reece James is edging closer to get back to the pitch. The defender had suffered a hamstring injury and as per Telegraph journalist Matt Law via London is Blue podcast, James is expected to join full training next week.

Chelsea and Liverpool's current Premier League situation

Chelsea are currently on a six-match unbeaten run and just four points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool. Both teams have new managers on board and both are shining in their respective duties.

Chelsea started the season with a 0-2 loss against Manchester City in their opening fixture. However, since then, they haven't been defeated.

Liverpool on the other hand, are in sublime form. They sit at the top of the Premier League with 18 points from seven outings and are closely followed by Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea. They have won six games in the domestic competition and have faced only one defeat - a narrow 0-1 loss to Nottingham Forest.

A win against Liverpool on October 20 will help Enzo Maresca's side gain more confidence heading into the season. Post the Liverpool game, the Blues will be travelling to Greece to take on Panathinaikos in the UEFA Europa Conference League.
