Chelsea's top goalscorer Cole Palmer and Arsenal's captain Martin Odegaard have both been nominated for the PFA Players' Player of the Year award. They sit among a prestigious list of players who impressed last season, including Manchester City stars Phil Foden and Erling Haaland.

Rodri, who was a vital part of the City side that won the league title, was also nominated, alongside Aston Villa forward Ollie Watkins.

It is hardly any surprise to see Palmer on the list, as the midfielder was easily the shining light in Chelsea's dark season. He only just moved from Manchester City, leaving the Etihad for Stamford Bridge in a deal worth £40 million. However, he has impressed all-round, scoring a remarkable 22 goals and providing 11 assists in the league.

Martin Odegaard is also an unsurprising addition to the list, as he captained Arsenal to a second-place finish in the Premier League. It has been difficult for the Gunners to defeat the juggernauts that are Manchester City, but they have fought to the wire, coming second consecutively. Odegaard helped their cause with eight goals and 10 assists in the Premier League.

With 27 goals, Erling Haaland is the highest goalscorer in the Premier League for the second time in a row. This gives him a strong chance against his teammate Phil Foden, who had a seasonal best with 19 league goals and eight assists. Rodri, though, held the midfield together, and could well win the PFA Player of the Year award.

Pundit pushes Arsenal to sign Chelsea winger

With Arsenal looking to beat Manchester City to the Premier League this time around, reinforcements are required. While the Gunners have had a number of targets, they have only signed a new player in Riccardo Calafiori, while they made David Raya's deal permanent.

The push to sign more players has been evident, with the London club linked to wingers like Nico Williams and Pedro Neto. However, both deals have reportedly stumbled, with Williams opting to stay with Spanish giants Athletic Club, and Neto moving to Chelsea.

This has led Darren Bent to push them to sign Raheem Sterling from the Blues, who will have to make space for Pedro Neto's arrival. He said on TalkSPORT (via ArsenalInsider):

“He is only 29, which means there’s more in him. I think I will take him at Arsenal, you know? I am not saying he starts every game, but to have Sterling on the left. He is only 29. People talk about Sterling like he is 35.”

However, it is uncertain whether the Gunners will be looking to make a move for the Chelsea winger, who scored eight Premier League goals last season.
