Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has reportedly recommended that teenage summer signing Marc Guiu be allowed to leave the club on loan this summer. The Spain youth international joined the Blues from Barcelona earlier this summer after his release clause was triggered.

Identifying an opportunity in the market, the Blues moved swiftly to sign 18-year-old striker Guiu from his boyhood club Barcelona for his €6 million release clause. The youngster turned down an offer of a new contract from the Spanish side before penning a long-term deal at Stamford Bridge.

Marc Guiu teamed up with the Premier League side for the start of their pre-season training at their Cobham training ground as one of the striker options. The Spanish teenager was keen to impress new manager Enzo Maresca with a view to earning a first-team spot in 2024-25.

Spanish media outlet Esport3 has now reported that Maresca is far from convinced of the readiness of the teenager to contribute to his squad this season. The Italian manager is prepared to sanction a loan move away from the club for the teenager, with Spanish outfit Espanyol his likely destination.

Sevilla were interested in signing Guiu from Barcelona before he joined Chelsea, and the Spanish side remain interested in the teenager. The youngster was hopeful of featuring for the first team but may now have to spend a season to gain experience away from Stamford Bridge.

Guiu featured for the first team of Barcelona in the 2023-24 season, scoring on his professional debut against Athletic Bilbao. The young striker will be keen to impress if he has to spend time out on loan, and will hope to return to first-team contention at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea target Ligue 1 star ahead of 2024-25 commencement - Reports

Chelsea are looking to make a move to sign RC Lens striker Elye Wahi this summer as they look to add another striker to their squad. The Frenchman has been on the radar of the English side for the past year, having turned down an opportunity to join the Blues last summer.

L'Equipe reports that the Blues have made enquiries about the conditions of a deal for Wahi, who swapped Montpellier for Lens last summer. The 21-year-old managed nine goals in 28 league appearances for the French club last season as they finished seventh.

Chelsea have been priced out of a move for Victor Osimhen, who was their primary target this summer. Maresca is prepared to work with Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku as his first-choice striking options unless a new striker joins.
