According to a report by Caught Offside (via Football Espana), Chelsea and Real Madrid are interested in signing RB Leipzig's Castello Lukeba. The French under-21 international joined the German side last summer in a deal reportedly worth €30 million from Olympique Lyon.

The 21-year-old has featured 68 times for the club since his arrival and has helped them to German Super Cup success. His contract with Leipzig is set to run until the summer of 2028.

Real Madrid are keen to bolster their ranks defensively after missing out on their target Leny Yoro to Manchester United in the summer. The 15-time UEFA Champions League winners will now look to other options but might face competition from Chelsea for Lukeba.

The Premier League giants have been busy in the transfer market under their current administration and could see a move for the highly-rated defender as a worthwhile investment.

Real Madrid boss backs Enzo Maresca to do well at Chelsea

In August this year, Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti backed Enzo Maresca to do well at Chelsea when asked about his suitability for the job. Maresca was handed the job following Mauricio Pochettinio's dismissal. Notably, the former had won the Championship with Leicester City last season.

Ancelotti previously managed Chelsea between 2009 and 2011 and won the Premier League and FA Cup. Speaking with John Obi Mikel on Obi One Podcast, he discussed Maresca's experience for the job, saying:

"Experience is not the most important part of our job. It’s part of our job, but of course, the most important part is the knowledge. And the fact that he has experience with Pep Guardiola and with Leicester City, I think he has the knowledge to manage and to do well at Chelsea."

The Real Madrid boss and his team are looking to defend their La Liga and UEFA Champions League titles this term.
