Despite all the ridicule for their plenty of signings over the past few windows, Chelsea are reportedly in the race to sign 19-year-old Ukrainian goalkeeper Vladyslav Krapyvtsov.

According to Football24TV (via Sunderland Echo), the young shot-stopper, who has garnered attention from several clubs across Europe, is a free agent after parting ways with SC Dnipro last month. However, his performances have caught the eye of Championship and even Premier League clubs.

Krapyvtsov, who has represented Ukraine's U19 side on seven occasions, is being pursued by Chelsea alongside Championship side Sunderland and fellow Premier League outfit Southampton. Still a teenager, the goalkeeper has shown plenty of potential, and the Blues eyeing him as a prospect for the future.

Over the past few transfer windows, the London club have established a tradition of scouting young talent and adding them to their ranks. Krapyvtsov’s signing could follow suit.

Chelsea already have an extended roster of goalkeepers, including Robert Sanchez, Filip Jorgensen, Djordje Petrovic, Kepa Arrizabalaga, and Marcus Bettinelli. Thus, it's expected that if the club secure his signature, Krapyvtsov would initially be a part of the academy setup before making any inroads into the first team.

Chelsea's interest in the Ukrainian talent comes as they continue to reshape their squad under the guidance of new leadership. With the transfer deadline fast approaching, it remains to be seen whether they will push forward with this acquisition or focus on other pressing needs within the squad.

Meanwhile, Sunderland and Southampton are also keen on securing Krapyvtsov’s services. The Black Cats, despite already signing Simon Moore as a backup to Anthony Patterson, see potential in the young keeper for their academy ranks. The Saints' interest suggests they are also looking to strengthen their goalkeeping department for the future.

"I want Raheem Sterling" - Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca provides an update on the English winger's situation at the club

After Raheem Sterling was left out of the Chelsea squad for Sunday's Premier League opener against Manchester City, his representatives released a statement demanding "clarity" about the forward's future at Stamford Bridge.

Asked about the 29-year-old's status at the club in the post-match press conference, gaffer Enzo Maresca stated (via BBC Sport):

"I want Raheem Sterling, but I want all the forty players that we have. But there is no space for all of them. So some of them have to leave."

The Blues have spent about £185m on 11 signings this summer, leaving Maresca with a squad of more than 40 senior players. With rumors of Joao Felix and Jadon Sancho signing for the club, Maresca will be tested on his skill to manage a bloated squad.
