Barcelona are considering a move for LOSC Lille striker, Jonathan David, according to a report by RMCsport. The 24-year-old striker is one of the brightest prospects in his position on the planet and could potentially step in to replace Robert Lewandowski in Catalonia.

David has been with the Ligue 1 outfit since 2020 after joining for a reported fee of €27 million. He has bagged 91 goals and 20 assists in 14,541 minutes for Lille spread across 194 games, helping the side to League and Super Cup glory in 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons, respectively.

The Brooklyn-born striker could be available for free in the summer, with his current deal set to expire in the summer of 2025. That means Barcelona or any foreign club will be free to discuss a pre-contract deal with him from January 1.

As a result of Blaugrana's public financial issues, the Canadian could present a cheap and quality replacement for Lewandowski. The veteran striker's time with the Catalan giants is set to come to an end in the summer of 2026.

Sergino Dest reveals Xavi Hernandez's betrayal during Barcelona stint

Former Barcelona defender Sergino Dest has shared how he feels Xavi Hernandez let him down during their time together at the club. The American signed for the Catalan heavyweights from Ajax in 2020 for a reported €21 million fee.

Dest made 72 appearances for the club and helped them to Copa Del Rey glory in the 2020-21 season. However, he was sent out on loan first to AC Milan and then PSV Eindhoven before being allowed to leave for free this summer to join the reigning Dutch champions.

Speaking in a recent interview with Marca, the fullback laid the blame for his disappointing Barca career at the feet of previous club boss, Xavi, saying:

"When Xavi came, I didn't get fair opportunities anymore. I didn't feel appreciated, and my confidence level was lower."

Dest played 987 minutes across 18 games for Barcelona under Xavi's tutelage. However, the club legend left this summer to make room for a new era under Hansi Flick.
