Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has heaped praise on new Liverpool coach Arne Slot ahead of the latter's first season in England. The Dutch coach has taken over at Anfield after the iconic Jurgen Klopp announced that he would be departing the club this summer.

Of course, it will be an incredibly difficult task to fill the shoes of the former Borussia Dortmund manager, who spent nine years in Merseyside. During his tenure, Klopp led the Reds to one Premier League and UEFA Champions League trophy each, among other honors.

Slot, who has only recently come in, was with Eredivisie side Feyenoord for three seasons before taking up the Liverpool job. Last season, the Dutch outfit finished second in their top-tier league, seven points behind winners PSV Eindhoven.

Now that Slot has moved to England, he's already received praise from Gunners' boss Arteta, who himself has been impressive of late. Speaking about the new Liverpool manager, Arteta told ESPN:

"Welcome to the Premier League. I think he's an exceptional coach. Obviously, it's a bit sad to see Jurgen leave because what he has brought to the league, I think, is something unprecedented with his charisma, his way of playing and the moments he has created in this league."

Liverpool and Slot kickstart their Premier League campaign for the 2024/25 season with an away match at Ipswich Town on August 17. Last season, they finished third, nine points behind champions Manchester City.

Former Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp also lauded Arne Slot before his Anfield exit. The German was asked about his successor at a press conference in April this year.

Although Klopp admitted that he didn't know the new coach too well, he still had some good things to say about Slot. Speaking at the time, the 57-year-old said (via GOAL):

"I'm not involved in the process, but I like a lot about it if he is the one and wants to take the job. I like the way his team plays football. All the things I hear about him as a guy- a good guy.
"Some people I know, know him. I don't know him, but some people who know him say he's a good guy."

Klopp was in charge of 489 matches across competitions during his stay at Anfield. Currently, the German is on a break from football, and it remains uncertain when he will return to working in the sport.
