Former Arsenal goalkeeper Jens Lehmann has been hit with a huge fine for property damage and attempted fraud by a court in his hometown of Starnberg, Germany. The 54-year-old was found guilty of the aforementioned charges and slapped with a fine of £112,500, according to the Mirror.

Lehmann is reported to have attacked his neighbor's garage with a chainsaw. As per the report, the former Arsenal shot-stopper sawed off the roof beam of his neighbor's newly built garage back in 2022. He was also charged for evading parking fines.

The former German international initially received a suspended 10-month prison sentence and a fine of over £350,000. However, following an appeal, the verdict was overturned, and the fine was reduced.

After the verdict, Lehmann's lawyer, Florian Ufer, stated that the former footballer had acknowledged his mistake and reconciled with his neighbor. He also mentioned that the parking fee, which Lehmann was accused of avoiding, had been paid.

"Mr Lehmann accepts responsibility. He has come to an agreement with his neighbour. The parking fees have been paid," Lehmann's lawyer said.

Lehmann was also in the news earlier in the week after he was reportedly arrested for drunk-driving after attending the famous German festival Oktoberfest. He was said to have reeked of alcohol after being pulled over by the police. Investigations are still ongoing on that incident, but his driver's license has been seized.

The former Arsenal star was part of Arsene Wenger's 'invincible' team that lifted the Premier League undefeated in the 2003-04 season. In 2011, he briefly came out of retirement to play for the Gunners for one year due to a goalkeeping injury crisis. He made a total of 200 appearances across two spells with the north London club, officially hanging up his boots in 2011.

The ex-Arsenal shot-stopper's marriage has reportedly hit the rocks amidst his troubles. According to a report by the Daily Mail, Lehmann and his wife Conny have split ways. The pair got married in 1999 and have two children together.

As per the report, his wife has found a new partner and is no longer living with Lehmann and their children. Conny is said to have been a huge support structure for Lehmann during his playing days.

Aside from the north London club, the ex-German star also played for Schalke 04, AC Milan, Borussia Dortmund, and VfB Stuttgart. He was also Germany's first-choice goalkeeper at the 2006 FIFA World Cup.
