Arsenal legend Ian Wright has predicted the winner of the upcoming Premier League clash between Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur. They will face off at Old Trafford on Sunday, September 29.

The game will be crucial for both sides, who are looking to climb up the Premier League table after an inconsistent start. Both Erik ten Hag and Ange Postecoglou's sides have amassed seven points in five league games and are 11th and 10 in the table, respectively.

Tottenham impressed in their last Premier League match against Brentford at home (September 21). The north London outfit came from behind to finish the game 3-1 despite conceding a goal within the first few seconds of kickoff. They will face Qarabag in the Europa League at home on September 26.

Meanwhile, Manchester United's lack of form was highlighted by their recent UEFA Europa League 1-1 draw against FC Twente (September 25). They drew 0-0 in their last Premier League game at Crystal Palace.

That being said, Ian Wright predicted the home team to clinch the win on Sunday against Arsenal's north London rivals. He said on the Stick to Football podcast:

“I think United will beat them. Let’s go 2-1.”

Wright was also joined by pundits Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville. Both of them agreed with the Arsenal legend and put their eggs in the home team's basket.

The Red Devils also have a historical advantage over Ange Postecoglou's side, having won 89 times in 176 matches played between them. Tottenham, meanwhile, have enjoyed 46 wins with 41 ending in a stalemate.

A recent report by TEAMTalk suggests that the Manchester United board is looking at potential managers who could replace Erik ten Hag at the club. He was unable to meet expectations at the beginning of the season despite the board trusting him amid transfer rumors.

The Dutch tactician joined the English outfit in the summer of 2022 replacing interim manager Ralf Ragnick. Manchester United have played 122 games under the tutelage of Ten Hag, winning 71 and facing defeat in 34 games while 17 resulted in a stalemate.

Manchester United were eighth on the Premier League table after 38 matchdays last season - their lowest-ever finish. However, Ten Hag's saving grace was their FA Cup win at the end of the season.

The Red Devils defeated Pep Guardiola's Manchester City in the final of FA Cup 2024 at Wembley Stadium on May 25. Youngsters Alejandro Garnacho (30') and Kobbie Mainoo's (39') first-half goals along with a solid defensive display ensured a 2-1 win for the Red Devils. The victory also made them qualify for this season's Europa League.
