Wrexham owner Ryan Reynolds appears to extend offer to Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand

Wrexham owner Ryan Reynolds appeared to extend an offer to Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand, asking if the retired defender would return to playing. This notably happened while Reynolds and Hugh Jackman were promoting the movie Deadpool & Wolverine.

Although they have been in Germany for EURO 2024, the duo spent time with Ferdinand, as they recorded an episode for his YouTube channel Rio Ferdinand presents FIVE. Ryan Reynolds asked the Manchester United legend to join his club after Ferdinand talked about having "huge respect for what you've done" (via Sport Bible):

"How much respect? Are you willing to relocate?"

Ferdinand's retort was:

"In what capacity are you looking for me to be recruited. I can't play no [sic] more - but I'd help you off the pitch."

When Reynolds agreed to that option, the former defender reacted:

"You're doing alright... don't you worry about that."

The Manchester United legend also asked the Wrexham owner about his love for the lower-tier league club, to which Reynolds explained:

"Wrexham is sort of, for some reason everything comes down to the wire over there - everything happens in the last two seconds of the match. I've never seen jubilation and explosive emotion like I have in Wrexham, but then so much more of it has to do with the city and the town in and of itself..."

He finished:

"And admittedly, when I first started this thing I was a little fake it until you make it. And then I was just taken and I couldn't stop."

Wrexham are currently in Football League One, but they will be hoping to work towards promotion and rising through the ranks of English football in the coming years.

Manchester United welcome three new coaches at training complex

While Rio Ferdinand has opted for punditry, some other Manchester United legends have gone into coaching, including former striker Ruud van Nistelrooy. The Dutch forward has been hired at Old Trafford as the Red Devils build up their backroom of staff ahead of the next season.

He isn't the only new member of staff at the club, with Rene Hake also getting welcomed at Carrington for the first day of pre-season training. Jelle ten Rouwelaar has also joined up with the club as a goalkeeping coach.

All three Dutchmen are set to work alongside their fellow countryman and club manager Erik ten Hag, who is looking to build on a poor campaign. Ten Hag notably led the Red Devils to an embarrassing eighth place in the Premier League, although they managed to win the FA Cup.
