Chelsea fans were impressed with Belgian international Romeo Lavia following his performance against Manchester City. Lavia played a total of 67 minutes in the Blues' 2-0 defeat against City.

The Belgian was arguably one of Chelsea's standout players during his spell on the pitch. Head coach Enzo Maresca opted to start Lavia in the heart of the Blues' midfield alongside Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez.

However, it was the 20-year-old Belgian who stood out the most among the trio. Chelsea supporters were thrilled with his display.

One fan on X (formerly Twitter) boldly stated that the Belgian is destined for greatness. In his words,

"Positive today : Romeo Lavia has the dawg in him , what a player , him being subbed off has been felt , matter of time before he blows, he is destined for Greatness."

Another fan labeled Lavia as a proper number six. In his words,

"Lavia is very good at receiving under pressure with his back to play. Always finds a solution. Proper 6."

This fan said:

"Romeo Lavia’s stock comes out of that game boosted significantly. Chelsea had more solutions to build out from the back when he was on the pitch (Chelsea lose the 2nd goal to a poor build-up phase) and Enzo/Caicedo were dismantled by Kovacic for his goal."

Below are more fan reactions from Lavia's impressive display against Manchester City over the weekend.

Chelsea star draws positives from his side's 2-0 defeat against defending champions Manchester City

Lavia reacted to his team's 2-0 Premier League loss at Stamford Bridge, stressing that there were a lot of positives for him and his teammates to take from the game.

Speaking to Sky Sports on his side's performance after the game, Lavia said:

"I think there were a lot of positives to take from the game. We were expecting goals today and we had a lot of chances. We need to take the positives and move on."

He continued:

"We felt like we had the chance to come out on top and that didn't happen. It's a very good team, so we have to take the good things and move on to the next game. You can find a lot of reasons why they won today."

The Belgian international finally got the opportunity to impress the home supporters after failing to make any significant contribution last season following his £58 million transfer.

Lavia suffered a barrage of injury setbacks that ruled him out for the entirety of the 2023-24 campaign.

The Belgian, however, seems to have now overcome his injury woes and did put up a decent display against Manchester City over the weekend.
