Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo has had a decent year for his country. After a 10-goal UEFA Euro 2024 qualifying campaign, the 39-year-old drew a blank in his first international outing in 2024, a 2-0 friendly defeat at Slovenia in March.

Ronaldo returned to scoring ways in the 3-0 home win over Iceland in another friendly, netting twice. However, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner drew a rare blank in five outings at Euro 2024, where Portugal lost to France on penalties in the quarter-finals.

It marked the first time Ronaldo failed to score in 11 appearances at major tournaments (FIFA World Cup and Euros). However, he made an emphatic return to scoring ways in the aforementioned Croatia game, becoming the first player to score 900 international goals.

Ronaldo also scored in the 2-1 win over Scotland three days later as he looks to continue his scoring ways against Poland.
