3 Chelsea stars unfollowed Enzo Fernandez on Instagram after video of alleged racist chants he sang with Argentina teammates comes to light

Chelsea players Malo Gusto, Axel Disassi, and Wesley Fofana unfollowed Enzo Fernandez after he posted a video on Instagram that showed him singing along to alleged racist chants with his Argentina teammates. The Albiceleste players chanted on their team bus after they won Copa America:

"They play for France, but their parents are from Angola. Their mother is from Cameroon, while their father is from Nigeria. But their passport says French."

All three Blues players who have cut ties with the Argentine on social media are of African heritage.

It remains to be seen how the West London club mends fences between their record signing and his teammates following his behavior. No member of the Argentine team has made a statement following the backlash to the video.

Enzo Fernandez joined Chelsea from Benfica for 121 million Euros in January 2023 after winning the World Cup with Argentina in Qatar that winter. He has gone on to play 62 games and score seven goals while assisting five goals for the Blues in that time.

French Football Federation issues response to Argentina players' chants posted by Chelsea star Enzo Fernandez

The president of the French Football Federation has responded to the alleged racist video Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez posted of him and the Argentina team chanting on the bus.

In an official response, the FFF said:

"French Football Federation President Philippe Diallo condemns in the strongest possible terms the unacceptable racist and discriminatory remarks that have been made against the players of the team of France in the framework of a song sung by players and supporters from the team of Argentina after its victory in Copa America and broadcast in a video on social networks."

The FFF concluded, saying:

"Given the seriousness of these shocking remarks, contrary to the values of sport and human rights, the president of the FFF has decided to question his Argentine counterpart and FIFA directly and to file a complaint in court for insulting remarks of a racial and discriminatory nature."

It remains to be seen if the Argentines will be punished for the chants.
