Manchester United were unable to convert their dominance into a victory against Dutch side FC Twente as they drew 1-1 in their league phase clash in the Europa League on Wednesday, September 25. Ten Hag failed to secure a win against the side he made 257 appearances for as a player.

Heading into the fixture, Erik ten Hag made three changes following their 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace. Harry Maguire, Manuel Ugarte, and Marcus Rashford came in for Matthijs de Ligt, Kobbie Mainoo, and Alejandro Garnacho.

It was a slow start from Manchester United as they took some time to adjust to the flow of the game. However, they soon established their dominance and took the lead in the 35th minute. The ball fell to Christian Eriksen at the edge of the box and the midfielder's curling effort flew into the top corner to make it 1-0.

United continued to threaten in the second half but failed to produce any big chances as the visitors defended resolutely. The Dutch side found the equaliser in the 68th minute as Eriksen was dispossessed in his own half by Sam Lammers, who drove at goal and found the back of the net.

Ten Hag sent on a few attackers for the last 10 minutes of the game, but Twente's organised defense, combined with a great performance from their keeper, ensured that Manchester United had to settle for a draw.

The result sees United's inconsistent form continue as they now have only two wins in their previous six games. Here are the player ratings:

Manchester United Player Ratings

Andre Onana - 6/10

He could have probably done better to avoid being beaten at his near post for Twente's goal, but did not have much to do in the remainder of the game.

Noussair Mazraoui - 6/10

Mazraoui was solid defensively, but lacked his usual threat going forward.

Harry Maguire - 6.5/10

A solid performance from Maguire, making his case to get more minutes in the Premier League. He showed his ability on the ball, completing 5/9 long balls and playing nine passes into the final third.

Lisandro Martinez - 6/10

Another decent outing from the Argentinian, who came close to scoring in the first half.

Diogo Dalot - 6.5/10

Similar to his full-back partner, Dalot did well defensively but was unable to create much on the ball.

Manuel Ugarte - 5.5/10

It was a mostly pedestrian outing for the midfielder, who struggled to get involved in the game.

Christian Eriksen - 6.5/10

He showed his class with a brilliant effort to take the lead and was one of Manchester United's more composed players on the night. However, an uncharacteristic error proved costly as it led to the equaliser.

Amad Diallo - 6/10

Looked lively at times down the right flank before being taken off for Garnacho.

Bruno Fernandes - 5/10

Similar to his outing against Crystal Palace, Fernandes was heavily involved going forward but looked careless at times, clearly growing frustrated as the game went on.

Marcus Rashford - 6/10

Rashford continues to find his confidence but was unable to get on the scoresheet before being taken off for the last 10 minutes.

Joshua Zirkzee - 6/10

A mostly quiet night up front for the Dutchman as he did not get great service. He looked good dropping deep to get involved in the link-up play, but did not look like scoring.

Substitutes

Alejandro Garnacho - 6.5/10

One of Manchester United's more lively players on the night as he had some threatening moments down the right but could not find the deciding moment.

Mason Mount, Rasmus Hojlund, and Kobbie Mainoo - N/A

The trio came on too late and did not play enough minutes to merit a rating.
