Lyon play host to Nantes in a Ligue 1 game at the Groupama Stadium this Sunday. After a deeply disappointing 2023-24 campaign, Lyon currently sit in an equally disappointing 11th place in the table.

- Lyon's recent record against Nantes is a strong one, as they have won three of their last six meetings. To add to this, Nantes have not won at Lyon since a 0-1 win in September 2019.
- Despite a sticky start that saw them win just one of their first five games, Lyon now appear to have turned a corner. Last week saw them ease past Olympiacos in a Europa League tie before defeating Toulouse. They then followed those wins with one over Rangers, putting them on a three-game win streak in all competitions.
- Nantes' last game was a story of frustration. Despite going 2-0 up against newly-promoted Saint-Etienne, Nantes ended up being pegged back and drawing 2-2. They were also reduced to ten men.
- Lyon's defence has been a worry throughout the early phase of the current season. They have let in a total of 12 goals thus far, with only four other sides conceding more. In contrast, Nantes have conceded just six.
- Despite being linked with a move away from Lyon in the summer, Rayan Cherki has now returned to the fold and has helped their turnaround in form. The winger has scored two goals and registered two assists in just four appearances this season.

Despite Nantes sitting quite a bit higher in the table than Lyon right now, everything going into this game points to a home win.
Lyon will be hugely buoyed by their three-game winning run and looked excellent against Rangers in the midweek. Nantes, meanwhile, will likely still be smarting from their slip-up against Saint-Etienne.
Antoine Kombouare's side are good enough to make a game of it, but it feels more likely that Lyon will come away with three points here.
