Gambia and Madagascar clash at the Ben M'Hamed El Abdi Stadium in neutral Morocco on Monday for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. Both are currently winless in their campaign and their progression hopes are dangling by a thread.

On Friday, the sides met for the first clash as part of their qualifying group, and it ended honors even at 1-1. Clement Couturier's first-half strike had put the Barea in front, and almost sealed a win too, until Yankuba Minteh pegged them back with a 97th-minute effort.

This makes their rematch all the more interesting, as neither side can afford to drop more points with just two more qualifying matches remaining in the round, and three points between the two teams in this fixture and second-placed Comoros.

Tunisia, who lost to Comoros in the other game in the group on the same day, remain atop Group A with six points, while their conquerors are second with five points. Madagascar and Gambia have two points each, with an identical goal difference of -1.

Ranked 135th in the world, the Scorpions have qualified for the last two editions of the AFCON finals, which are also interestingly their first two appearances in the tournament. A hat-trick of qualifications would be great for them, but they will need to up the ante for that.

On the other hand, the Barea's only prior appearance in the competition came in 2019, when they managed to reach the quarter-finals on their debut. But since then, they have fallen short in their endeavors and are seeing their progression hopes vanish again.

  • Gambia are winless in their last four games, alternating between a loss and a draw. Interestingly, their rivals are also without a win in their last four games.

Gambia vs Madagascar Prediction

This is a clash of two struggling teams, whose progression hopes are on the edge at the moment. Given their performances in the last few games, it's unlikely to see either of these two sides post a big result here.

A repeat of their result from Friday seems likely.

Prediction: Gambia 1-1 Madagascar
