Manchester United were made to rue some poor finishing as they had to settle for a 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Saturday, September 21.

Coming into the game, Crystal Palace made two changes following their 2-2 draw against Leicester. Daichi Kamada and Chris Richards came in for Cheick Doucoure and Nathaniel Clyne.

Manchester United, meanwhile, enjoyed a dominant 7-0 win over Barnsley last time out in the Carabao Cup. Marcus Rashford was named on the bench with Erik ten Hag opting to go with Alejandro Garnacho and Amad Diallo alongside Joshua Zirkzee in attack.

Throughout the first half, the visitors were brilliant as they created chance after chance. However, their finishing let them down as they were unable to find the back of the net. Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes each hit the woodwork once while Dean Henderson made a bunch of great saves to keep it level heading into the break.

With some changes made in the second period, Palace posed more of a threat after failing to register even a shot attempt in the first half. Notably, Eddie Nketiah and Ismaila Sarr forced a brilliant double save from Andre Onana, while at the other end, Fernandes and Diallo came close with their efforts.

However, Palace held on, meaning Manchester United have now secured only two wins from their first five games in the Premier League, finding themselves in 11th place. Here are the player ratings:

Manchester United Player Ratings

Andre Onana - 7/10

He pulled off an unbelievable double save to keep the hosts at bay, but outside that, he did not have much to do.

Noussair Mazraoui - 7/10

A strong performance from the right-back who was solid defensively while also offering a threat going forward.

Matthijs de Ligt - 7/10

A composed outing for the Dutchman who did well on the ball as well.

Lisandro Martinez - 6.5/10

Similar to his partner in central defence, he had a good game as well outside one moment of hot-headedness where he almost got sent off for a risky tackle in the second period.

Diogo Dalot - 7.5/10

One of Manchester United's best players on the night, Dalot was key in the side's build-up and chance creation, especially in the first half. He finished with three chances created and five passes into the final third.

Kobbie Mainoo - 6.5/10

A decent performance from the young star, but he didn't really influence the game.

Christian Eriksen - 6.5/10

Had a few good moments but similar to Mainoo was largely a silent presence throughout the fixture.

Amad Diallo - 6.5/10

Handed the start over Rashford who was impressive midweek, Diallo had a difficult time against Tyrick Mitchell. He came close to scoring with a brilliant dipping effort early in the second half before being taken off for the last 15 minutes.

Bruno Fernandes - 7/10

Once again proving to be the heart of the team, Fernandes was everywhere as he looked to unlock the Palace defence. However, he missed two good chances to give Manchester United the lead as well.

Alejandro Garnacho - 7/10

His willingness to run behind the defence proved to be a constant thorn in the side for the hosts. He came close to scoring, hitting the crossbar.

Joshua Zirkzee - 6.5/10

An energetic performance from the forward, doing well to drop and help in link-up play.

Substitutes

Marcus Rashford - 6/10

Coming off a great outing against Barnsley, Rashford was largely kept quiet for his half-hour stint.

Manuel Ugarte - 6.5/10

He did well to provide some energy to a midfield lacking some of it late on in the game.

Rasmus Hojlund - 6/10

Made his first appearance of the season after injury but could not do much.
