Brunei have won their last five official games in all competitions

Brunei host Timor-Leste at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Bandar Seri Begawan on Tuesday for the first leg of their 2024 ASEAN Championship qualification. The Wasps come into the fixture on the back of a good run, winning their last five games in all competitions after starting the year with consecutive defeats.

That includes a pair of wins over Macau last month. Jamie McAllister's side won the home leg 3-0 before completing the whitewash with another 1-0 victory on the road a few days later.

With that, Bhutan sealed their place in the second round of the 2027 AFC Asian Cup qualifiers and will be looking to channel that spirit here too, as they look to reach the ASEAN Championship finals.

Ranked 196th in the world, Timor-Leste stand in their way, but they lack the game time this year. The Crocodiles have played only two official games, both coming against Mongolia in the 2027 AFC Asian Cup qualifiers.

A 4-1 win in the first leg at home was enough for them to reach the second round as the Blue Wolves cut the deficit by inflicting a 2-0 loss upon them in the return.

Brunei vs Timor-Leste Head-To-Head and Key Numbers

  • There have been 10 clashes between the sides in the past, with Brunei winning seven times and losing only thrice.
  • The sides meet for the first time since November 2022, when they clashed for the second leg of their AFF Championship qualifiers. The Wasps were beaten 1-0 on that day, but had won the first one 6-2.
  • Brunei have won their last five official games in all competitions, keeping a clean sheet in their last four.
  • Brunei's Muhammad Azwan bin Ali Rahman has scored thrice in their last four official matches.
  • The Wasps are ranked 183rd in the world, while the Crocodiles are 13 places below them.

Brunei vs Timor-Leste Prediction

The Wasps are a good side at home, and with the in-form Muhammad Azwan leading them from the front, the Crocodiles don't really stand a chance here. They haven't played enough games this year, so they lack the match practice too. The island side will have an uphill battle in the return leg at home.

Prediction: Brunei 3-0 Timor-Leste
