FK Bodo/Glimt host Red Star on Tuesday

Bodo/Glimt and Red Star Belgrade will square off in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League playoff tie on Tuesday. The hosts are coming into the game on the back of a comfortable 4-1 comeback home victory over Jagiellonia in the second leg of their third-round qualification tie last week.

They went behind to Patrick Berg's fourth-minute own goal but were ahead at the break courtesy of goals from Sondre Fet and Isak Maatta. Fet completed his brace in the second half while Kasper Hogh wrapped up proceedings in the 71st minute to help the Yellow Horde advance with a 5-1 aggregate victory.

Red Star, meanwhile, cruised to a 4-1 away win over Cukaricki in the Serbian Super Liga on Saturday. Nigerian forward Peter Olayinka was the star of the show as he scored a first-half brace to put the visitors on their way to victory. Sambou Sissoko's 77th-minute own goal and Luka Ilic's 89th-minute strike sealed the victory.

The Red-Whites will turn their focus back to the continent, where they received a bye to the playoff.

The winner of this tie will advance to the Champions League league phase while the losers drop to the UEFA Europa League.

Bodo/Glimt vs Red Star Prediction

Glimt are aiming to become only the third Norwegian side and first in 17 years to make it to the UEFA Champions League proper. Kjetil Knutsen's side will be quietly optimistic of emulating Molde and Rosenborg, given their fine run of form, particularly in front of their fans.

Red Star will not be pushovers though, with the Serbian giants being former European champions and more established in continental football. They have also made a three-game winning start to their title defense domestically.

We are backing the home side to claim a comfortable victory with goals at both ends.

Prediction: Bodo/Glimt 3-1 Red Star
