Azerbaijan and Slovakia lock horns in the UEFA Nations League on Monday

The action continues in the UEFA Nations League as Azerbaijan and Slovakia lock horns at the Tofiq Bahramov Stadium on Monday. Fernando Santos’ hosts have lost their three games in Group C1.

Azerbaijan were left empty handed yet again in the Nations League, as they suffered a 3-1 defeat to Estonia at the A. Le Coq Arena on Friday. Santos’ side have lost their three games in the campaign, conceding eight goals and scoring twice.

Slovakia, meanwhile, turned in a fine show of spirit on Friday, overcoming a two-goal deficit to salvage a 2-2 draw against Sweden at the Tehelne Pole Stadium.

Before that, Francesco Calzona’s men had kicked off the campaign with back-to-back victories, seeing off Estonia 1-0 in the Group C1 opener on September 5, three days before a 2-0 home win over Azerbaijan.

With seven points, Slovakia are second in the standings, only behind Sweden on goal difference.
