Auxerre and Brestois square off in Ligue 1 on Friday.

Auxerre and Stade Brestois get the ball rolling in round six of Ligue 1 at the Stade de l'Abbe-Deschamps on Friday.

The hosts were left empty handed yet again, as they suffered a 3-2 defeat to Montpellier at the Stade de la Mosson on Sunday. Having gained promotion from Lige 2, Christopher Pelissier’s side have lost four straight games since kicking off their new top-fligth campaign with a 2-1 win over OGC Nice.

Auxerre’s slow start to the season has been owing to their struggles at the defensive end, where they have conceded 12 goals; only Montpellier (15) and Saint-Etienne (15) have shipped more.

Meanwhile, Brestois turned in a solid display on Sunday, picking up a 2-0 victory over Toulouse at the Stade Francis-Le Ble. Before that, Eric Roy’s men had grabbed a 2-1 victory over Sturm Graz to mark their UEFA Champions League debut.

Brest have six points from five Ligue 1 games and are 11th in the points table, three points and five places above Auxerre.
