Despite Red Bull team principal Christian Horner's warning about the need to improve his performance, Sergio Perez insists he doesn’t feel pressure ahead of the USGP weekend. Speaking to media, including Sportskeeda, the Mexican driver sidestepped questions about his future, emphasizing that his focus remains on optimizing the car’s upgraded package.

Horner had hinted that Perez’s future could be in jeopardy if his performances didn’t improve, with Red Bull junior drivers Liam Lawson and Yuki Tsunoda waiting in the wings. However, the six-time Grand Prix winner dismissed the notion of being pressured to deliver, instead choosing to concentrate on the task at hand.

Asked by Sportskeeda if he felt any pressure going into the weekend after Horner’s warning, Perez said:

"Well, no, it's not something that I really think about it. I think we are fully focused as a team on the upgrade package, on bringing our season back on track. I know that if the car is competitive, if we fix the issue, we will be back to being competitive. We know what the issue has been for a long period of time. So I'm more concerned on that, than reading the news or getting any headlines.”

"I felt the need" - Sergio Perez believes that it is important to post on social media amid speculation around future

Sergio Perez addressed the speculation surrounding his future by posting a meme from The Wolf of Wall Street on social media, hinting that rumors of his retirement after the Mexican GP were unfounded. He felt it was necessary to speak out for the sake of his fans, particularly ahead of the USGP and Mexican GP weekends. Perez dismissed the theories about his departure from Red Bull, labeling them as baseless rumors and incorrect speculation.

Asked about the need to post the Wolf of Wall Street meme, Perez said:

“Well, I just felt like it's been every year for the last two years or so, that someone creates this rumor and then everyone picks it up and then all my fans. You know that obviously I'm very conscious that there is a lot of people coming to support me to the Mexican Grand Prix and they probably might be expecting something that is not true. I felt the need to just say look I mean I think it's just not correct to spread just rumors like this without knowing the facts.”

Despite the rumors about his future, the 34-year-old’s immediate focus is on maximizing his performance during the upcoming triple-header starting in Austin. Currently sitting eighth in the drivers’ standings, he is 176 points behind teammate Max Verstappen, who leads the championship.

In the constructors’ standings, Red Bull has lost their lead to McLaren and now trails by 41 points. This makes Perez's performance even more critical for the team's championship aspirations.
