Max Verstappen rarely holds back his language while driving on the track or playing games on the simulator. FIA even penalized him recently for his use of expletives during the recently concluded 2024 Singapore Grand Prix. While the Dutchman did not bat much of an eye, he had to be cautious of his language when his father asked.

Jos Verstappen, the father of the Red Bull driver, reportedly warned the latter to watch for his language around his girlfriend's daughter, Penelope. This was after P was found using one such expletive at home.

Dutch media house ViaPlay released a documentary on Max Verstappen, named Off The Beaten Track. There, he opened up about the incident where P used a swear word in front of his grandmother. Verstappen narrated:

"It's a release for me. I get to curse all I want," admitted Verstappen as per Mirror. "But you know what's happening now? Grandma was visiting us in Monaco. She was in the kitchen with Penelope. Suddenly the cats start acting crazy."
"And Penelope goes 'What the f***' are the cats doing?'. Grandma looked at her like 'What did you just say?'. She heard me say that, of course. 'What the f*** are the cats doing?'"

Jos Verstappen, who was reportedly present at the scene, had a worried smile on his face. Soon after this, he spoke to his son and asked him to use his language carefully around P.

"You need to watch your language around her," Verstappen Sr. said.
"Yeah," Verstappen Jr. replied

Penelope is the daughter of Kelly Piquet and her previous partner Daniil Kvyat, a former F1 driver. Piquet and Kvyat welcomed P during their relationship back in 2019. However, they split soon after, and since 2021, Kelly has been in a relationship with Max Verstappen.

While Max Verstappen and P share an amicable relationship, which fans often find cute, the former has no intention of being the latter's father. Verstappen informed this during one of his interviews with TIME last year.

"I’m not the father, that’s not the aim," Verstappen said. "It’s always very important that she has a good relationship with her own father, which she has. But I see her every day when I’m at home. We get on very well. She’s very cute.”

Max Verstappen is gearing up to secure his fourth consecutive F1 title this season. He currently leads the Championship by 52 points ahead of Lando Norris after 18 races and three Sprints.
