Before Lewis Hamilton took the chequered flag at the 2024 F1 British GP, he was asked by a young fan whether he would win at Silverstone. The interaction between Hamilton and the kid was recently posted by Mercedes' official X account.

Right from the beginning of the British GP race weekend, Hamilton demonstrated a strong pace on the track. In qualifying, he achieved his highest position in 2024, P2. Starting on the front row, he and polesitter George Russell started the race strongly and managed to hold off Red Bull Max Verstappen of Red Bull and Lando Norris of McLaren.

While Russell's car problem forced him to retire from the race, Hamilton went on to win the British GP with the help of accurate pitstops and the right tire choice from Mercedes.

The much-needed triumph sent the Mercedes driver to tears. During the winning lap, he was welling up while talking over the radio with his team. As the seven-time world champion took the chequered flag, thousands of Hamilton supporters in the Silverstone grandstands cheered.

Before Sunday's British GP, Lewis Hamilton attended a fan interaction interview with Sky Sports on Thursday. In that interview, a young Hamilton fan named Teddy asked the seven-time world champion whether he could win the race at Silverstone. Hamilton lovingly placed a hand on the kid's head and said:

"With you supporting me, I think it's possible right?" Hamilton said.

He then asked the kid if he thought Hamilton would be able to win the race. The boy said yes with a positive attitude.

After the Brit won his home race for the ninth time, Mercedes's official X account posted a clip of how Teddy asked the most accurate question right before the race weekend.

Lewis Hamilton penned an emotional message to his fans after winning the British GP

Lewis Hamilton wrote a heartwarming message to his fans after winning the 2024 F1 British GP. The seven-time world champion won his first race after 945 days. His last race win was in Saudi Arabia in 2021.

After winning the race, he wholeheartedly praised the Silverstone crowd on his official Instagram account. He also praised his team for helping him win at his home race.

"YES 945 days since the last win and it’s finally come home. SILVERSTONE I LOVE YOU. There’s no crowd that deserves this more. This is love, this is family. Thank you all for the love and support. Massive shout-out to the team as well," Hamilton wrote.
"Everyone in the garage and back at the factory have given long hard hours for this result. It’s not been easy but it’s brought us back-to-back wins for the team. Most importantly we didn’t lose hope. We didn’t give up. THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU KEEP GOING. STILL, WE RISE," he added.
