Watch: Fernando Alonso confronts Liam Lawson in the parc ferme

Aston Martin F1 driver Fernando Alonso was not happy with Visa Cash App RB driver Liam Lawson and confronted him in the parc ferme after the Sprint race. The two-time world champion had a difficult Sprint Shootout as he could only manage P14 and finished ahead of the Kiwi.

The 43-year-old did not have the best of starts as he fell to P16 after Oscar Piastri and Liam Lawson went past him heading into Turn 1. However, after settling into the Sprint race, the Spaniard made his way and closed the gap to the RB of Lawson.

After making the lunge in Turn 13, after the DRS straight, Alonso was aggressively cut off by Lawson heading into Turn 14 which did not sit well with the former. The Aston Martin expressed his feelings about the move on his team radio and called the 22-year-old an "idiot" and eventually finished P17 with Lawson getting P15.

However, Alonso was not completely over the incident and caught up with Lawson in the parc ferme after the sprint. In a video floating on social media, he could been confronting the latter about his maneuvres on the track.

Speaking with DAZN, Fernando Alonso gave his comments on the incident and said:

"Too much action, maybe, from Lawson, who has six races to prove things. I don't think it's the best way, but it's his career at stake and not mine."

Liam Lawson throws shade at Fernando Alonso after his qualifying woes

RB driver Liam Lawson stated that he was "screwed" by Fernando Alonso during the qualifying session after overtaking him out of the pitlane into Turn 1. Speaking with ESPN, the Kiwi said of the tussle:

"I don't know, he said he would screw me and I guess he kept his word. I dunno. He was really upset, I'm not sure why, we were racing for P16 and I don't know why he was so upset. Yeah, I don't know. It is what it is."
"Hopefully, he can get over it and we'll move forward. I understand he had a pretty horrible race so I can understand why he's upset. But if I did anything wrong I'd have got a penalty."

The Aston Martin, however, denied such claims and replied:

"No, not really, but you know, everyone on track is behaving as he wants, and for me today it was unnecessary, everyone can have different opinions, I'm OK with that, and it's 24 races, so you meet somewhere in the journey."

Fernando Alonso successfully made his way into Q3 and would start the US Grand Prix in P8 while Lawson would start at the back of the grid owing to his engine penalties.
