Watch: An exhausted George Russell struggling to even walk after the F1 Singapore GP

George Russell was recently seen struggling to walk after the grueling 2024 F1 Singapore GP. Some Grand Prixs in F1 that are quite demanding. While a few require extremely quick reflexes and precision, others challenge drivers with extreme weather conditions.

The Singapore GP has always been known to be tiring for racers due to the hot and humid weather at Marina Bay. Despite appropriate cooling systems and holes, drivers have always felt exhausted after a 62-lap race.

After the rough race in Singapore, all the drivers parked their cars in the narrow pit lane of the track and started getting out. Through a Sauber car's on-board camera, Mercedes driver George Russell was seen barely walking straight after getting out of his car. While passing the Sauber, he placed both his hands on the car's wheels before walking ahead. He was strolling slowly towards the garage through the line of F1 cars.

George Russell had a decent race in Singapore. The British driver started the race from P4 and finished in P4 as well. Though he remained in P3 and put on a long stint on his medium tires, he had to eventually pit and mainly raced against Ferrari's Charles Leclerc in the middle stint. After Leclerc, was pitted, Russell secured P4 but was unable to catch the likes of Max Verstappen, Oscar Piastri, and Lando Norris.


Mercedes boss claims that George Russell and Lewis Hamilton had a 'borderline heatstroke' during an exhausting Singapore GP

Mercedes honcho, Toto Wolff, recently told the media how George Russell and Lewis Hamilton almost had a heatstroke during the Singapore GP. However, he assured everyone that they felt better after having ample water after the hot race.

He further added that both his drivers could not attend the media pen for interviews simply because they were extremely exhausted. The Austrian concluded that Russell and Hamilton were checked by the doctors and were okay.

“They did not feel well, borderline heatstroke or something like that but they have had water. They would not have been able to go to the (television/print) pen. There were no bad feelings or any annoyance. It is just that we had the doctors with them. But they are all good,” Wolff said. (via Independent)

While Russell finished P4, Lewis Hamilton secured P6. The seven-time world champion was right behind his teammate throughout the race but was unable to overtake Charles Leclerc at the end of the race.

In the drivers' standings, Hamilton is in sixth place with 174 points, while George Russell is in seventh with 155 points. Both drivers are chasing the likes of fifth-placed Carlos Sainz, and fourth-placed Oscar Piastri.
