“They’re not in a rush”: Kevin Magnussen keeping calm with Haas amid uncertain future in F1

Kevin Magnussen is seemingly not worried about his future despite the turbulent times for drivers in Formula 1. In a season that has seen multiple drivers lose their seats, Magnussen is still patient with Haas as the American team is reportedly not "in a rush" to declare their 2025 drivers.

Carlos Sainz saw his seat for 2025 go to Lewis Hamilton just before the start of the season. On the other hand, Esteban Ocon mutually decided to part ways with Alpine. On top of that, Mercedes and RB are yet to finalize their second driver.

As for Haas, they lost Nico Hulkenberg and are yet to find a replacement. Hulkenberg is set to join Sauber next year after signing up for the Hinwil-based team recently. This left Haas barely any choice as they could not afford to skip an experienced driver like Magnussen and sign a new face instead.

“They’ve told me that they’re not in a rush, and that’s okay – they’re in control there,” Magnussen said as per F1.com. “I think it’s a very open market at the moment, and lots of pieces have to fall in the puzzle. Slowly it’s starting to go together, and hopefully we’ll all have our future sorted quite soon.”

Kevin Magnussen rejoined Haas in 2022, two years after parting ways in 2020. As the Danish driver replaced Nikita Mazepin, he performed brilliantly to help his team finish in P8 of the Constructors' Championship. He scored 25 out of 37 Haas' total points.

Kevin Magnussen: "Everyone is checking what options we all have"

Like every other driver, Magnussen too is weighing his options in the merry-go-round driver market. Teams like Williams, Sauber, and Alpine are yet to declare their full line-up for 2025.

When asked if he has been in talks with any other teams, he responded: “I think everyone is talking to everyone and checking what options we all have. As I said, hopefully everyone’s future will be sorted sooner rather than later.”

Haas needs two drivers for next season. Even if they decide to extend Magnussen's contract, they will still have to find the other driver for Hulkenberg's seat.

The ongoing season is Kevin Magnussen's 10th in the sport; the Danish driver has accumulated 173 Grand Prix entries and one podium. Besides this, he has one pole position to his name, and two fastest laps to show for.
