F1 fans were left raging after several reports emerged claiming that Daniel Ricciardo was in contention to replace Sergio Perez at Red Bull in the middle of the 2024 season. The Aussie driver has been fighting for his future in the sport given his inconsistent performances with RB in the first half of the season.

The VCARB driver has found a bit of form and results in the last couple of weekends, which have strengthened his position to stay in F1 for next year. Amid his recent uptick in form, AMUS reported that he might be in contention to replace Perez in the next couple of races.

The Mexican driver recently signed a contract extension with the Austrian team but ever since signing a new deal, his performances on the track have been lacklustre.

It is being reported that Sergio Perez and Ricciardo both have performance clauses in their contracts that might enable the move. The 35-year-old would have to perform well at Silverstone, Hungary, and Spa to get a shot at the Red Bull seat after the summer break.

F1 fans took to social media to give their reactions to reports of Daniel Ricciardo replacing Sergio Perez at Red Bull on X, with one fan terming it as a 'disaster', saying:

"That would be a disaster all over again. Pérez has been consistently without a doubt a better team mate than any other driver that has been placed alongside Max Verstappen. I know it, you know it, they know it, and the whole world KNOWS IT," said a fan.

A fan claimed:

"Why not replace Perez with Yuki!?? Ricardo proved time and time again he is no talent."

Another fan wrote:

"This would be the worst mistake RB could make. How many times does Daniel have to prove he sucks before RB believes him? It’s all about the money with RB."
"Why is Ricciardo the one being constantly mentioned? He’s no better. Has he got pics of Horner?" asked a fan.

Daniel Ricciardo gives his take on his future in F1

Daniel Ricciardo stated that he wasn't worried about his chances of retaining the seat at RB next year and was ready to face whatever came his way.

As per Motorsportweek, the eight-time race winner said:

“I sound casual, I don’t want to be casual about it, because obviously, I care a lot. But I don’t know. Maybe I’m at a point where it’s just like, what will be, will be."
"I’m just going to put everything I can on the table from an effort and performance, and if that is good enough to secure me a seat, great. If not, then OK, I did everything I could." he added.

Liam Lawson is the favorite to replace Daniel Ricciardo at RB if the team decides to not retain him for next year.
