Sergio Perez has issued a savage response as rumors of his retirement have surfaced once again during the break between Singapore and Austin. The Mexican driver has been on a sticky wicket at Red Bull because of his performances. He was even expected to lose his seat going into the summer break as reports suggested that he would be replaced by Daniel Ricciardo.

While the Australian did not replace the Mexican after the summer break and has himself been ousted from RB, F1 pundit Joe Saward claimed in a recent report that Sergio Perez's time with Red Bull could possibly end after the race in Mexico, where the driver would announce his retirement.

In his personal blog, the green notebook, Joe Saward said:

"One interesting rumor in Singapore was that Perez and Red Bull have worked out a plan that will see him announce his retirement in Mexico, giving him a more gentle exit than being fired and will be less painful for Red Bull sales in the Americas. This would give Red Bull the chance to shop around for a new driver in 2025."

In a surprise turn of events, Sergio Perez issued a reply on social media with a clip from the movie The Wolf of the Wall Street where Leonardo DiCaprio says, "I'm not leaving."

The post is an indication of the Mexican driver finding out that something like this has been doing the rounds in F1, and this was probably the best way to put an end to the rumor. The driver signed a two-year contract extension with Red Bull earlier this season, and if things are supposed to go according to the basics of the contract, he isn't leaving anytime soon.

Former Red Bull driver fears Sergio Perez could be heading towards the exit door

Former Red Bull driver David Coulthard had also criticized Sergio Perez for his Singapore GP performance, where the driver was nowhere compared to his teammate. Perez had performed well in Baku, where he found performance in the car that even Max Verstappen couldn't. But that was the only race where he did well.

On his podcast Formula for Success (via Crash), David Coulthard said that Sergio Perez could be heading towards the exit door just like Daniel Ricciardo has recently.

"There was so much relief off the back of Baku. Here, it was back to reality. If he doesn’t get solid points for the remainder of the year then, like Daniel Ricciardo, it looks like he’s on the way out of the door. It could be the same situation for Perez.”

There is no doubt that Sergio Perez will need an improvement in his performance if he wants to keep his seat at Red Bull. It remains to be seen, however, if any alternative for the Mexican emerges for the Austrian team.
