It is being reported that Pierre Gasly and Alpine are yet to agree on a contract extension for the 2025 season as the French driver has been looking for other options on the grid. The 2020 Italian GP winner joined the Enstone-based team at the beginning of the 2023 season and had a reasonably successful season as he secured a podium in Zandvoort and a podium in the Sprint race at Spa.

2024 has been a different story for Alpine as they made a dismal start to their season and were battling at the back of the field. However, they have made some progress in the last couple of races that have seen them claw their way back to P7 in the Constructor's Championship.

It is confirmed that Esteban Ocon won't be continuing with Alpine next year but his compatriot Pierre Gasly might soon join him in leaving the team. Flavio Briatore, the team's newly appointed advisor, hinted after the Spanish GP that they had Gasly in the short term, and for his teammate, the team had a potential "shortlist of names to evaluate".

According to a report from "PlanetF1", Pierre Gasly and the French team are yet to reach an agreement regarding the contract extension. He told the media in Barcelona:

“I don’t have a deadline particularly, and I think the market at the moment is quite open. Everybody is aware of what opportunities are out there, so no, at the moment, I don’t want to give too much detail on that. I think everything is going well in discussions, and that’s it.”

Pierre Gasly gives his take on the 'best race of the season'

Pierre Gasly hailed the Spanish GP last weekend as the 'best race of the season' for the Alpine team as he and Ocon finished P9 and P10 on merit.

As per F1.com, the 28-year-old said:

“That was our best race of the season so far as a team, so on that front, I am very happy with today. We had a strong Qualifying on Saturday, which set us up for a good result in ninth place today. We executed the race well with the two-stop strategy and managed each stint well."
"We almost had eighth place and only missed out on the last lap but I gave it my all. Even so, I’m happy with such a strong race where we battled two fast cars – the McLaren early on and then the Red Bull at the end – so that’s positive for us," he added.

Pierre Gasly moved up to P15 in the Driver's Championship with five points, two ahead of Esteban Ocon and one behind Haas's Nico Hulkenberg after ten races and two Sprints thus far.
