Zak Brown, CEO of McLaren, requested Red Bull Racing's top figures to sign an affidavit regarding the use of the controversial bib device. His request has received criticism from F1 fans on social media.

Ahead of the US Grand Prix weekend, defending constructors champion Red Bull came under scrutiny for allegedly using a front bib height adjustment device. The team acknowledged the device existed but also highlighted that it was inaccessible once the car was fully assembled. While the FIA investigated potential infringement, it avoided penalizing the Austrian team due to a lack of evidence.

Despite the green flag from the FIA, Brown put out an unusual request for top officials at RBR. McLaren's top boss asked Red Bull's leadership and mechanics to sign an affidavit regarding the use of the bib device, as reported by the Daily Mail.

"I'd like to see the senior leadership, the former chief mechanics and the current mechanics sign an affidavit stating that they have never used or have no knowledge of it being used," Brown said.

Brown's aforementioned statement was shared on X by a Red Bull Racing fan page. Here's a look at the post, captioned:

"Zak Brown wants Red Bull staff to sign an affidavit that they never used the bib device in a way that is outside the regulations"

His request has since been criticized by F1 fans on the social platform X.

"I want Zak Brown to shut the f**k up," an angry fan replied.
"Of all the teams, its so funny that Mclaren is crying about 'cheating,'" another fan said.
"Bro. Stay in your corner with your flexible rear wing. Dude be cheating and acting like a boss. Sit down," a fan quipped.
"I also want McLaren to sign the same affidavit confirming their car was never illegal," another fan commented.
"Zak lost not only his flexi wings. His mind went with it it seems," a fan said sarcastically.
"Will Zak Brown realize how bad he looks by making these statements? He's like a child throwing a tantrum, I'd say calm down and sit down with his flexible front wings," another fan replied.

"He does not like Christian" - Max Verstappen claims it is personal between Zak Brown and Christian Horner amid bib device controversy

Reigning world champion Max Verstappen believes it is personal between McLaren's Zak Brown and Red Bull Racing's Christian Horner amid the ongoing bib device controversy.

"It is not necessarily McLaren, but it is more Zak. He does not like Christian, and I don’t think that is the case the other way around either. But the fact that they do not like each other is not my problem," Verstappen commented, speaking to Dutch publication De Telegraaf.
"I have an excellent relationship with Zak. It's not like we're on the phone, but I just saw him and then it's all good," he added.

As of now, McLaren is leading the constructors' stadings. The British team is 40 points ahead of Red Bull Racing.
