"I'm doing my best not to say what I want to say, but f**k that guy": Daniel Ricciardo furious at Lance Stroll after the F1 Chinese GP

Visa Cash App RB driver Daniel Ricciardo blasted Aston Martin driver Lance Stroll as he used some choice words for the latter going into the back of him at the Chinese GP on Sunday.

The Aussie driver was in the points during the safety car period and had managed the race well after having an offset strategy for others around him. But he found himself on the slightly older tires while others around him had fresher hard tires.

However, Ricciardo wasn't able to capitalize on his opportunity as he got rammed into the back by Stroll behind the safety car as the Canadian did not slam on the brakes hard enough. The Aston Martin driver, later on his team radio, called Ricciardo an 'idiot' for slamming on the brakes.

Speaking to The Race, Daniel Ricciardo did not mince his words while criticizing Lance Stroll and said:

“I’d slowly started to calm down and then I was told what Lance thinks of the incident. And apparently I'm an idiot. And it was my fault. So, that made my blood boil. Because it's clear as day - and it's also behind a safety car."
“The only thing you've got to do is watch the car in front, we can't predict what the leader is going to do. We can't assume that we're going to go in Turn 14. I'm doing my best not to say what I want to say. But f**k that guy – and I'm being nice still. But if that's what he thinks, I'm like… yeah.”

Daniel Ricciardo analyzes the crash with Lance Stroll at the Chinese GP

Daniel Ricciardo stated that he saw the restart after coming back to the garage and claimed that it wasn't a 'small lapse of judgment' from Lance Stroll.

Speaking with Sky Sports, the RB driver said:

"It wasn't like a small lapse of judgement. I saw his onboard, and he wasn't looking at me, he was looking at the apex. I don't know what he was looking at, unless his eyes were doing something funny. It was a blow for our weekend."

Daniel Ricciardo had a resurgent weekend at the Chinese GP with his new chassis, as he got the better of his teammate Yuki Tsunoda in every single session. Hopefully, the Aussie driver can take some positives from the weekend despite the clash with Stroll and build on his newfound momentum for the upcoming races.
