Former F1 team boss Guenther Steiner shared that Adrian Newey would be of great help to Aston Martin as he might attract even more talent to the team. The ace designer surprised everyone early in the year when he announced he was leaving Red Bull and not joining Ferrari.

The designer is now a shareholder of Aston Martin and will lead the technical team once he takes over in 2025. The Silverstone-based team owned by Lawrence Stroll has been under the spotlight for the last year or so because of the kind of investment the billionaire has made in the team.

Newey is looked at as one of the final pieces of the jigsaw puzzle for Aston Martin, as the squad aims to be in title contention in 2026. Former Haas team principal Guenther Steiner felt that apart from the designer's skills, his ability to attract good personnel to Aston Martin would be fruitful to the team. Talking to PlanetF1, Steiner said,

“I think one person cannot do it, but one person can help. But what Adrian does as well, he will attract other big talent. Because if you have got somebody like him, it’s not only what he brings himself, he’s got his knowledge about the sport, his intelligence, but it’s also a lot of good people, young people look and say ‘I want to work there. I’m motivated, because Adrian went there. I want to go there.”

Adrian Newey alone cannot turn things around at Aston Martin

Steiner felt that just like hiring a strong driver for a team helps attract talent, the same way Aston Martin is trying to attract talent to the team. As per him, Adrian Newey alone cannot turn things around for the squad, but if he's able to build a strong, capable team around him, it would certainly help improve the results. He said:

“It’s like when you take on a good driver in a team, people want to join you. They say ‘this guy made the decision, I want to be with the good people.’ And I think what Aston Martin is doing at the moment, they are trying to attract good people so they can be World Champion, because Adrian, on his own, cannot do it."

Steiner added:

“But I mean, obviously Adrian is very good at what he does and he will be a big help and obviously Lawrence Stroll is putting his hand where his mouth is.”

Adrian Newey joins the team next season, and by the looks of it, the focus would be entirely on the 2026 F1 season when there is a regulation change in place.
