Former Visa Cash App RB driver Daniel Ricciardo shared some 'behind the scenes' pictures with the McLaren duo of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri on social media. The Aussie driver bid farewell to the sport at the end of the Singapore Grand Prix last month and would be replaced by Liam Lawson in the team for the remainder of the season.

There was a cloud of uncertainty regarding the 35-year-old's future in the sport throughout the weekend at the Marina Bay Circuit as there was no official confirmation regarding the Aussie's exit from RB. However, Ricciardo, who had probably accepted the reality of his F1 career being over, stayed back in the paddock to acknowledge team members and fellow drivers.

Daniel Ricciardo took to his social media platform, Instagram, to share some behind-the-scenes images of his last day in the sport which involved swapping helmets with fellow Aussie Oscar Piastri and riding from the track with former McLaren teammate Lando Norris.

In an interview with Wide World of Sports last year, Oscar Piastri spoke about having a different personality from Daniel Ricciardo but claimed that he was pleased to race alongside the eight-time race winner, saying:

"Daniel and I are very, very different people – which is absolutely fine. It's nice to have both of us there and I've had some really good conversations with him throughout the year and he's been very supportive. It's nice to have two of us on the grid because it doesn't happen often."

Red Bull team boss gives his take on Daniel Ricciardo's failed bid for a return to the team

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner stated that he would have "loved to see" Daniel Ricciardo leap back to the Austrian team after returning to the sport in the middle of the 2023 season.

While appearing on the F1 Nation podcast, the Brit reflected (via PlanetF1):

“Yeah, I would have loved to see him use it as a leap, as a springboard to get back to where he was to have completed the story. But it wasn’t to be, you know. Daniel’s honest about that; he knows in his heart he gave it his best shot, and he’s had a great career.
“He’s had a great run. But, unfortunately, the next chapter wasn’t to be – he’s so good in front of the camera. He’s a natural entertainer and showman. He will be, for sure, in front of the camera at some point, and I’m sure there’ll be a documentary or something that will be fascinating.”

Daniel Ricciardo was rumored to be close to driving for Red Bull as he was considered by the Austrian team as one of the replacements for Sergio Perez after the summer break, given the Mexican driver's poor results this year.
