Red Bull taskmaster Dr Helmut Marko has talked about the possible announcement on Yuki Tsunoda's teammate in the coming races at VCARB, hinting at an announcement by the Singapore Grand Prix weekend.

Tsunoda has been with the team since his debut in 2021 but has witnessed multiple partners. While he has a contract for the 2025 F1 season as well, his current teammate Daniel Ricciardo does not. So far, the team has not given a clarification regarding the driver for the second VCARB seat.

While junior drivers like Liam Lawson have been linked with the seat, the officials have not discussed the possibilities further. However, Helmut Marko of Red Bull has mentioned the possibility of an announcement in Singapore, stating that the team would have a "clear picture" after that race. He said (to Viaplay via @FastestPitstop on X)

"We have an idea. Wait until Singapore. By then we will have a clear picture."

Additionally, when asked about Liam Lawson, he said the same.

"There will be clearance of what will happen," he said, when asked about an announcement in the coming week.
"Wait till after Singapore," Marko concluded, replying to queries about Liam Lawson.

Lawson previously partnered with Yuki Tsunoda for a few races in the 2023 F1 season. Daniel Ricciardo, who joined the team mid-season, was injured after a crash in Zandvoort. Lawson then replaced him for five races.

Yuki Tsunoda prioritizes Red Bull seat after VCARB

The end of the 2025 F1 season would mark four years of racing in RBR's junior team for Yuki Tsunoda. Despite spending so much time with his current team, the Japanese driver recently mentioned that his priority is getting into Red Bull Racing.

Speaking on the F1: Beyond the Grid podcast, Yuki Tsunoda mentioned that he aims to join the Milton Keynes outfit in the future and regularly finish within the top five.

“My main priority is a seat at Red Bull," Tsunoda said. "I have wanted to race there since my debut in Formula 1. They have one of the fastest cars on the grid. I want to show my potential and at the same time also I want to drive consistent top five."

Yuki Tsunoda's performance has improved this season. He has managed to finish within the points in seven races so far. In 2023, it was just six throughout the entire season.

After another season with the team, Tsunoda could have the opportunity to lay a strong foundation for Red Bull to deal with. Currently, Red Bull has its seats fixed until at least the end of the 2026 season with Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez.
